College buys downtown building for $6.8M
379 Main St. contains 55 micro-lofts, apartments of little more than 300 square feet.
Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences has purchased the five-story building at 379 Main St. for just over $6.9 million, according to records on file with the Registry of Deeds.
SJ Realty, which purchased the building for $600,000 on Dec. 12, 2012, renovated the building and created small lofts for college students on the upper floors.
According to an article on MassLive, "Of the 55 apartments, 26 of them are leased to the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, which has campuses in Worcester, Boston and Manchester, NH. According to an ad on the college's website, the apartments are available for graduate students and professionals."
The property, built in 1880, has 42,920 square feet of space.
The building is currently assessed by the city of Worcester for $3,612,300.
